2017 LTC/Non-LTC Convictions: INDECENT EXPOSURE

Introduction

The purpose of this article is to compare crime statistics between Texas License to Carry (LTC) holders and non-LTC holders specifically for indecent exposure in 2017. Indecent exposure is defined as the intentional exposure of one's body to another person in a public place in a lewd or sexual manner. It is important to study the relationship between LTC holders and crime statistics because it provides insight into the moral values and behavior of those who have obtained an LTC.

Crime Statistics among Texas LTC Holders

There were 5 convictions of indecent exposure among Texas LTC holders in 2017, which is 0.002% of all LTC holders. For comparison, there were 549 indecent exposure convictions among non-LTC holders, which is 0.394% of all non-LTC holders.

Factors that May Contribute to the Difference in Crime Statistics between Texas LTC and Non-LTC Holders

There are several factors that may contribute to the difference in crime statistics between those with and without an LTC. First, a background check and eligibility requirements must be met in order to obtain an LTC. This means that those with an LTC have already been vetted, which may contribute to reduced crime rates. Furthermore, LTC holders are required to take training and education courses, which helps to instill a sense of responsibility and respect for the law. Finally, LTC holders may perceive that they are at higher risk of being held accountable if they break the law, which can further reduce crime rates.

Conclusion

This article has examined crime statistics among Texas LTC and non-LTC holders for indecent exposure in 2017. It was found that there were 5 convictions of indecent exposure among Texas LTC holders in 2017, which is 0.002% of all LTC holders compared to 0.394% among non-LTC holders. It is suggested that factors such as the background checks and eligibility requirements for obtaining an LTC, training and education courses, and perception of risk and responsibility among LTC holders may contribute to the lower crime rate among LTC holders. These findings may have implications for LTC holders by emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and adhering to the law.
