This article aims to compare the crime statistics between Texas LTC (License To Carry) holders and non-LTC holders for Injury to a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual (INJ CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLED) and Reckless Bodily Injury ( RECKLESS BI/MENTAL) in 2019. A License To Carry (LTC) is a state license that allows a person to carry a handgun. It is important to study the relationship between LTC holders and crime statistics because LTC holders are assumed to be law abiding citizens.

Crime Statistics among Texas LTC Holders

The crime statistics among Texas LTC holders for INJ CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLED RECKLESS BI/MENTAL in 2019 showed that there were 0 convictions of LTC holders and 51 convictions for non-LTC holders, representing a 0% and 100% of the total respectively.

It was suggested that there may be several factors that contribute to the difference in crime statistics between Texas LTC and non-LTC holders, such as background checks, training and education on the responsible use of firearms, and the perception of risk and responsibility. The findings of this study imply that LTC holders are more likely to be law abiding citizens than non-LTC holders.
