2020 LTC/Non-LTC Convictions: INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING

Introduction

The purpose of this article is to compare crime statistics between Texas LTC (License to Carry) and non-LTC holders for INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING (IVR) for 2020. IVR is defined as recording or photographing someone in a private place without their consent. Understanding the relationship between LTC holders and crime statistics can provide insight into how firearm regulation affects crime.

Crime Statistics Among Texas LTC Holders

The crime statistics for INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING specifically for Texas LTC holders in 2020 shows that there were four convictions for IVR out of a total of 6.8 million LTC holders in Texas. Non-LTC holders had 43 convictions for IVR out of a total of 15.6 million non-LTC holders. This means that LTC holders have a 0.06% conviction rate for INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING compared to a 0.28% conviction rate for non-LTC holders in 2020.

Factors that May Contribute to the Difference in Crime Statistics between Texas LTC and Non-LTC Holders

There are several factors that may contribute to the consistent lower crime rate among LTC holders. These include background checks and eligibility requirements for obtaining an LTC, training and education for LTC holders, and the perception of risk and responsibility among LTC holders. Background checks and eligibility requirements for obtaining an LTC are intended to ensure that a person is eligible and responsible enough to own a firearm. Training and education for LTC holders also increase understanding of firearm safety and laws, increasing the level of responsibility among LTC holders. Furthermore, the perception of risk and responsibility among LTC holders may lead them to act more responsibly.

Conclusion

The results of this study have provided insight into the relationship between LTC holders and crime statistics, specifically for INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING for 2020. The data has shown that Texas LTC holders have a 0.06% conviction rate for INVASIVE VISUAL RECORDING compared to a 0.28% conviction rate for non-LTC holders. This suggests that LTC holders are more likely to be law abiding citizens than non-LTC holders. It is important to keep in mind that the results of this study cannot be generalized to all groups of people and should be considered in the context of the overall crime rate in the state.
