Comparison of Crime Statistics Between Texas LTC and Non-LTC Holders for Harassment of Public Servant in 2021

This article investigates the crime statistics between Texas LTC and non-LTC holders for Harassment of Public Servant in 2021. Harassment of public servant is “a crime committed when a person purposely and knowingly directs abusive, indecent, or insulting language toward a public servant with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace.” (Texas Penal Code, Sec. 22.01). We will discuss the importance of studying the relationship between LTC holders and crime statistics, and then compare the crime statistics between LTC and non-LTC holders for harassment of public servant. Factors such as background checks and eligibility requirements for obtaining an LTC, training and education for LTC holders, and perception of risk and responsibility among LTC holders will also be analyzed to determine their possible roles in the differences between the two groups.

Crime Statistics Among Texas LTC Holders

Among Texas LTC holders in 2021, there were 0 convictions for Harassment of Public Servant, while non-LTC holders had 18 convictions. These numbers indicate that Texas LTC holders are 0% likely to commit this crime, while non-LTC holders are 100% likely to commit this crime.

Factors That May Contribute to the Difference in Crime Statistics Between Texas LTC and Non-LTC Holders

There are several possible factors that may explain the difference in crime statistics between Texas LTC and non-LTC holders. The results showed 0 convictions among Texas LTC holders, while non-LTC holders had 18 convictions. Factors such as background checks and eligibility requirements for obtaining an LTC, training and education for LTC holders, and perception of risk and responsibility among LTC holders may be contributing factors to this difference in crime statistics. The findings of this article have important implications for understanding the role of firearms ownership in crime and responsible gun ownership.
