There isn't any eligibility requirement to take an LTC class, and when you've finished - your LTC-100, LTC-101, and (as of May 2024) LTC-104 certificate is valid for 2 years from the issue date.

Don't Forget the LTC Shooting Proficiency Demonstration

Step 2: Submit Your License to Carry Application to Texas DPS

Following your class completion, the next step involves formally applying for your LTC through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). This online application is a pivotal part of your LTC journey.

You can complete this step before taking the LTC class, or after.  Your application will remain active for several weeks before you need to re-apply.
